Fashion Week is the most important week in fashion.

Which fashion week you ask? All of them. 

This year there has been a major kuufuffle over who will get which dates. Milan had originally been scheduled at the same time as London Fashion Week. Which is more important? We won’t get into the politics of fashion here, but needless to say both felt a little bemused as they each thought they deserved their own week.

In the end, the two did receive individual weeks for Spring ‘13. But while all the commotion was going down, KCD Worldwide (the fashion PR powerhouse) announced they will be skipping the runway all together in favor of, a digital catwalk. 

KCD will digitally present a show by Prabal Gurung which will be invitation only via a password protected site. 

Look, we love the idea of innovation in fashion, but a digital show may not be the best thing for it. Obviously the clothes are the first thing people head to Fashion Week for, but it is about more than that. Fashion week is for street clothes, to be seen, to be heard, to hear what’s next, see what’s trending. A digital show is taking away some of the most important elements to what makes Fashion Week so spectacular.
